Plan In Place… Time For Results

I’ve been struggling with my weight for quite some time now.  As of last night, I’ve got a plan in place to fix it.  Now that I’ve got a definitive plan I’m very optimistic about the potential for success.  I weighed 227.0 this morning and I’m hoping that if I stick to what I’ve laid out below I’ll be well on my way to sub 200!

The Plan

  1. Limit carbs to less than 30 grams per day
  2. Workout at least 3 days per week
  3. No snacking after 9:00 PM
  4. At least 5 glasses of water per day
  5. Eat breakfast every day

Time will tell if this will be a successful plan, but I think it addresses quite a few things that have kept me from being successful in the past.

Monday 8/18/08 – Another Week Begins

Being a HUGE swimming fan the “best” part of the Olympic games are officially over for me. I tell you, that Phelps kid can swim huh? You think he practices much? Not sure if anyone saw it but there was a story on the Olympic coverage about how much he eats… something on the order of 15,000 calories a DAY!!! And he can’t break 200 lbs. Amazing. Gave a big ol “FU” to McDonald’s on the way to work today. Sitting here writing and the stomach is grumbling a bit but I’m not going to snack. Might grab a cup of coffee though… yummy.

BREAKFAST:
  • none

Was planning on eating something this AM but was pretty late getting out of the house. Not a big loss as long as I don’t snack (which I won’t).


LUNCH:
  • seafood salad from Subway (lettuce, spinach, yellow peppers, black olives, pickles, light mayo)
  • fountain diet Pepsi

Even with $5 foot long subs at Subway I really don’t think you can get more for your money than the Subway salads.


DINNER:
  • buffalo chicken breasts
  • 2 slices of cheese
  • water


SNACKS:
  • almonds
  • grande house blend from Starbucks
  • 2 double cheeseburgers (no bun)
  • 1 crispy chicken (no bun)
  • buttered popcorn
  • diet Pepsi

WORKOUT:
  • cut grass

Pretty good day eating wise. Love them salads at Subway. With the exception of the popcorn it was a relatively carb-free day. I simply cannot go to the movies without eating popcorn (and on Monday’s it’s free to boot!)
Had some BRUTAL heartburn on the way to the movie last night.  Not sure exactly what it was… might have been the burgers on the way home but I kind of doubt it.  The only thing that I’ve not had before was the chicken.  Will have to keep an eye on that the next time I eat it.

Another Battle With Heartburn… Time For A Change

Not sure why but I was having a brutal bit of acid reflux yesterday. Being an admitted hypochondriac, I of course starting thinking the worst. I tell you, when I get like this it’s like I’m just waiting to die. This obviously is a TERRIBLE way to go through life (especially with an awesome wife and two beautiful boys) so it’s time to make a change. I’ve decided that I’m going to lay off the carbs and keep a details journal (of sorts) of exactly what I’m eating. Hopefully I’ll lose some weight and feel a hell of alot better in the process.

Weight goal — 209 by 2009.

Went to Red Robin with the family and had the following for dinner:

  • Water
  • Royal Burger (with lettuce instead of bun) Here’s the description from the Red Robin site:
    This is the aristocrat of all burgers because we crown it with a fresh fried egg. Also, topped with three strips of hickory-smoked bacon, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomatoes and mayo.
  • A couple french fries

After dinner I had a handful of peanuts before bed. Not sure what I’m going to do from a format standpoint here, but as long as I can get things down “on paper” that’s a good start.
